It’s the Friday before Christmas and the Sitecore world is ringing with excitement today about the newly released Sitecore 8 platform. But before we get sidetracked by all the new shiny functionality built into Sitecore 8, I wanted to take a moment to recap Ottawa’s first Sitecore meetup that took place on November 20th.
Sitecore meetup groups have been popping up all over the world and it’s a credit to Sitecore that people are so excited that they are taking time out of their daily lives to get together and talk all things Sitecore. It was long overdue for the Sitecore community in Ottawa to officially meet each other, grab a beer, and share our passion for Sitecore.
It was a wonderful surprise to have such a great turn out for the first event (We honestly were not sure if anyone was going to show up!). A big thank you to all the Sitecore employees who made an appearance from the Gatineau office. As one group member said, “The number of Sitecore employees in Ottawa now outnumbers the amount of Sitecore partner employees”. Their support will be very valuable to the Sitecore community in Ottawa and I hope we can provide some valuable feedback as well.
With Sitecore 8 bringing so many changes and new features, it will be extremely important for us all to share our knowledge. I look forward to many great Sitecore meetups, new friends, and a lot of learning in the upcoming year. Stay tuned for the next Sitecore Ottawa meetup coming in January 2015!
